Claude Code and Codex on Your Phone

Happy is a free, open source app for iPhone and Android that controls Claude Code and Codex running on your computer. Pair your phone once with a QR code. Then send messages, answer permission requests, switch models, and read the changes from anywhere. The agents keep running on your machine, and the sync is end-to-end encrypted.

Remote Control facts are from Anthropic's Remote Control docs, checked on October 9, 2026. For the details, see Happy vs Claude Code Remote Control.

If you only use Claude Code and already have the Claude app, Remote Control is the shortest path: nothing else to install. If you want Codex too, or you want the content of your sessions unreadable to anyone in between, use Happy.

Pairing

There are two ways to put your sessions on the phone.

With Happy Desktop. Open Settings → Mobile Access. Install Happy from the App Store or Google Play, scan the device QR Desktop shows, and approve the computer on the phone. One scan. Desktop also installs the happy CLI, so terminal sessions reach the phone too.

From the terminal only. Install the CLI and start your agent through it:

npm install -g happy

happy claude
happy codex

happy wraps the real claude or codex with your normal sign-in and arguments. The first run pairs the machine by QR code. A background daemon lets the phone start and resume sessions with no terminal attached. See Using the Terminal.

What you can do from the phone

  • Send messages, with images.
  • Answer permission requests and questions.
  • Stop the turn.
  • Switch model and effort, and change the permission mode.
  • Start a session in a directory.
  • Read files and the session's Git changes.

Privacy

The phone holds the account's primary key. Content is encrypted on one device and decrypted on another. The relay stores and forwards opaque blobs. It sees that machines and sessions exist and when they were active, not what is in them. The full write-up is in Security & Encryption.

The agent runs on your computer, next to your files. Model requests go from your computer to the provider you chose, with your own credentials.
